We lost her on 13th April, 2021. Hemlata Ma’am taught sociology at SIL from 2017 to 2021. She was at the Shambhunath Institute
of Law since its very inception as a guiding light. She was among us till her last days.
She was a loving mother, adorable wife and a feminist in her views she was born 1951 in Madras. Her father was in the Indian
Air Force, so her family had to move around frequently. She completed her schooling and higher studies in Gwalior and then she
went to Sultanpur, where she joined as a lecturer of sociology at Kamla Nehru Institute in 1976. In 1981, she joined the department of
sociology at C.M.P. Degree College at Allahabad. During this period she wrote more than half a dozen books on sociology and a few books on
children as well.
She’s remembered as the most jovial and kind faculty by her colleagues. She touched the life of many students and teachers in this
institute as she considered all the students as her own children and treated them the same. She was the most dedicated teacher and a
generous guide and mentor to all the students and faculty members.
