The Official Journal of Shambhunath Institute of Law
1. Introduction

Juris Prudentia SILJ is an online, peer-reviewed, open-access law journal published by Shambhunath Institute of Law, Prayagraj. The Journal invites original and unpublished contributions from academicians, researchers, legal practitioners, judicial officers, policymakers, and students in the field of law and allied disciplines. Authors are advised to carefully read and comply with these guidelines before submitting their manuscripts.


2. Categories of Submissions

The Journal accepts the following categories of manuscripts:

Category Word Limit*
Long Articles 4,000–8,000 words
Short Articles 2,500–4,000 words
Case Comments 1,500–3,000 words
Legislative / Policy Reviews 7–15 Days
Book Reviews 1,000–2,000 words
Student Notes/td> 1,500–3,000 words

*Word limit is inclusive of footnotes but exclusive of the abstract.

The Editorial Board may, at its discretion, consider exceptional submissions beyond the prescribed limits.

3. Originality of Submission

  • Manuscripts submitted to the Journal must be original and unpublished.
  • The manuscript should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere at the time of submission.
  • Simultaneous or multiple submissions are strictly prohibited.
  • Authors shall ensure that all sources are properly acknowledged.

4. Formatting Requirements
General Format

  • File Format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).
  • Font: Times New Roman.
  • Font Size:
    • Main Text: 12 pt.
    • Footnotes: 10 pt.
  • Line Spacing: 1.5 in the main text.
  • Alignment: Justified.
  • Margins: 1 inch on all sides.

Title and Headings

  • Title: Bold, 16 pt, centred.
  • Main Headings: Bold, 14 pt.
  • Sub-headings: Bold, 12 pt.

6. Citation Style
The Journal follows the Oxford University Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA), 5th Edition.

  • All references shall be provided in the form of footnotes.
  • Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and consistency of citations.
  • In exceptional cases, the Editorial Board may permit other standard legal citation formats where justified.

7. Co-Authorship

  • Co-authorship is permitted.
  • A maximum of two authors may jointly submit a manuscript.
  • The order of authorship should be clearly indicated at the time of submission.

8. Submission Procedure
Authors shall submit their manuscripts through the Journal's designated email address or online submission portal. Each submission must include:

  1. Manuscript file (without author identification).
  2. Separate Title Page containing:
    • Title of the manuscript.
    • Name(s) of author(s).
    • Institutional affiliation.
    • Designation.
    • ORCID ID (if available).
    • Email address and contact details.
  3. Author Declaration regarding originality and exclusive submission.

9. Anonymous Review Requirement
To facilitate the double-blind peer review process:

  • The main manuscript file must not contain the name or any identifying information of the author(s).
  • The main manuscript file must not contain the name or any identifying information of the author(s).
  • Submissions not complying with anonymity requirements may be returned for correction.

10. Editorial and Peer Review Process
Every manuscript shall undergo:

  1. Preliminary editorial scrutiny.
  2. Plagiarism screening.
  3. The abstract should succinctly state the objective, methodology, and principal findings or arguments of the work.

11. Plagiarism and Academic Integrity
The Journal follows a strict anti-plagiarism policy. Authors must ensure that:

  • The manuscript is their original work.
  • Proper acknowledgment is given to all sources.
  • The manuscript complies with the Journal's Plagiarism Policy.
  • Any form of plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or unethical publication practice shall result in rejection or retraction of the manuscript.

12. Copyright and Open Access
Juris Prudentia SILJ shall retain copyright over the work and granting the Journal an exclusive right to publish and archive the manuscript. The Journal follows an Open Access publication model, making all published content freely accessible for academic and non-commercial use with proper attribution.


13. Declaration by Authors
By submitting a manuscript, the author(s) declare that:

  • The work is original and unpublished.
  • The manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere.
  • The submission does not infringe any copyright or other legal rights.
  • All applicable ethical standards have been complied with.

14. Disclaimer
The opinions and views expressed in the published articles are solely those of the respective authors. They do not necessarily reflect the views of the Editorial Board, the Publisher, or Shambhunath Institute of Law.
