EDITORIAL POLICY
JURIS PRUDENTIA SILJ
The Official Journal of Shambhunath Institute of Law
1. Preamble

Juris Prudentia SILJ is committed to promoting excellence in legal scholarship through a fair, transparent, and ethically sound publication process. The Journal seeks to provide an independent academic platform for the dissemination of original research and critical analysis in law and allied disciplines. The Editorial Board shall ensure that all editorial decisions are based solely on academic merit, originality, relevance, and contribution to legal knowledge, without discrimination on the basis of nationality, gender, institutional affiliation, religion, or political beliefs.


2. Editorial Independence
The Journal shall maintain complete editorial independence in the selection, review, and publication of manuscripts. Editorial decisions shall be made free from external influence and shall be guided exclusively by academic standards and publication ethics. The views expressed in published articles are those of the respective authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Editorial Board, the Publisher, or Shambhunath Institute of Law.

3. Objectives of the Editorial Policy
The Editorial Policy aims to:
  • Maintain the highest standards of academic quality and integrity.
  • Ensure fairness, transparency, and impartiality in editorial decisions.
  • Encourage original and innovative legal research.
  • Foster interdisciplinary and comparative legal scholarship.
  • Protect the rights and interests of authors, reviewers, and readers.

4. Scope of Editorial Consideration
The Journal shall consider for publication original and unpublished manuscripts relating to:
  • Law and Legal Studies;
  • Public Policy and Governance;
  • Human Rights and Social Justice;
  • Technology and Emerging Areas of Law; and
  • Other interdisciplinary subjects having a significant legal dimension.
The Journal reserves the right to decline submissions that fall outside its scope or fail to meet the prescribed standards of quality.

5. Editorial Process
The publication process shall ordinarily consist of the following stages:
  1. Initial Screening
    • Verification of compliance with submission guidelines.
    • Preliminary assessment of originality, relevance, and quality.
  2. Plagiarism Check
    • All manuscripts shall undergo plagiarism screening before peer review.
  3. Double-Blind Peer Review
    • Eligible manuscripts shall be referred to independent reviewers without disclosure of author or reviewer identity.
  4. Editorial Decision
    • Based on reviewer recommendations, the Editorial Board may:
      • Accept the manuscript.
      • Accept the manuscript.

  5. Copyediting and Publication
    • Accepted manuscripts shall undergo editorial and technical editing before publication.

6. Editorial Decision-Making
Editorial decisions shall be based on the following considerations:
  • Originality and novelty.
  • Academic merit and legal significance.
  • Methodological soundness.
  • Clarity, coherence, and quality of writing.
  • Relevance to the aims and scope of the Journal.
  • Compliance with ethical and citation standards.
The decision of the Editorial Board regarding publication shall be final.

7. Conflict of Interest

Editors shall avoid handling manuscripts where a real or perceived conflict of interest exists, including situations involving personal relationships, institutional affiliations, collaborative research, or financial interests. Where a conflict arises, the manuscript shall be assigned to another member of the Editorial Board.


8. Confidentiality

The Editorial Board shall maintain strict confidentiality regarding all submitted manuscripts. Information relating to a submission shall not be disclosed to any person other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial advisers, or the publisher, as appropriate. Manuscripts under review shall not be used by editors for personal research or advantage.


9. Corrections and Retractions
Where significant errors, ethical concerns, or instances of publication misconduct are identified after publication, the Journal may issue:
  • Corrections,
  • Clarifications,
  • Expressions of Concern, or
  • Retractions,
as may be appropriate, in order to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

10. Editorial Responsibility
The Editorial Board shall:
  • Ensure a fair and unbiased review process.
  • Uphold publication ethics and academic integrity.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of submissions.
  • Promote diversity of perspectives and scholarly debate.
  • Maintain the quality and reputation of the Journal.
as may be appropriate, in order to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

11. Amendments

This Editorial Policy may be revised or amended by the Editorial Board from time to time in order to reflect evolving best practices in academic publishing and legal research.


12. Effective Date

This Editorial Policy shall come into effect from the date of its adoption by the Editorial Board of Juris Prudentia SILJ and shall apply to all submissions received thereafter.
